Just Sailing’s RYA Day Skipper Practical course is ideal for aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills.
Learn to skipper a short passage with the instructor on hand to give advice and encouragement and ensure your safety. Experience being in charge, taking credit when it all goes well and being responsible when it doesn’t.
Our RYA Day Skipper Practical Course is one of our most popular courses, we highly recommend that you complete the RYA Day Skipper Theory course prior to the Practical elements. You can either do this online or join us for a focused nine or ten day course which combines the theory in the classroom followed by five days at sea.
Sailing is about so many things, but being able to sail to new destinations must be pretty near the top of the list. During the five days, our aim is to visit as many different locations as time and weather permit. From the beautiful anchorage in the bay of Porto Fino to the East of Genoa to the wonderful town of Varazze to the West. In addition to those mentioned there are lots of small ports enabling us to practice close quarter boat handling but also have a delicious lunch in a local restaurant.
Our RYA Day Skipper Practical course will begin by spending the first day making you feel relaxed and ready to learn, your instructor will be able to assess your level of experience and help you improve and develop day by day. Every evening your instructor will spend a few private minutes with you, reviewing the day and agreeing with you areas for development. Each day you will notice personal improvement in both skill and understanding.
We do our best to create a relaxed learning environment where learning becomes fun.
We all make mistakes and sailing is one of those activities where no matter how experienced you are, you never ever stop learning.
If it’s help with navigation that you need, you should take our RYA Day Skipper Theory shorebased course
