Per conseguire il titolo RYA Yachtmaster™ Offshore Motor, i candidati devono superare un esame pratico per verificare la loro abilità di skipper. Uno Yachtmaster è in grado di condurre un'imbarcazione a motore in lunghe traversate d'altura, sia di giorno che di notte.

Initially taking the RYA Yachtmaster Theory course in the classroom for 6 days,  not only to gain all the knowledge required for the practical exam and thorough understanding of the Collision Regulations but also achieving the RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certification vital for progression to further qualifications.

The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore motor course is not an exam in itself. It is the best way in which to prepare and the vast majority of successful candidates choose a reputable RYA course provider such as Just Sailing to undertake such preparation before they launch into the exam itself.

Esperienza precedente richiesta:

50 giorni a bordo, 5 giorni come skipper, 2500 miglia registrate, 5 passaggi di oltre 60 miglia di cui 2 notturni e 2 come skipper (metà del tempo di navigazione deve essere stato effettuato in acque di marea). Certificato di operatore radio VHF e certificato di primo soccorso valido.

L'età minima per sostenere l'esame è di 18 anni.

Il personale con minore esperienza può sostenere l'esame RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal:

30 giorni a bordo, 2 giorni come skipper, 800 miglia registrate, 12 ore notturne (metà delle ore di navigazione devono essere state effettuate in acque di marea). Certificato di operatore VHF, certificato di primo soccorso valido*. Se si ha un Certificato di completamento RYA Coastal Skipper si tiene a soli 400 chilometri di distanza.

*STCW Elementary First Aid il corso deve essere stato completato entro 5 anni, l'aggiornamento STCW Basic non lo prevede.

Panoramica del corso: 

Revision of advanced skippering techniques, close quarters handling under power and sail, navigation and pilotage by day and night, man overboard recovery and overall yacht management skills. Before joining the course, students should have the pre-requisite experience outlined above, navigation theory to RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory level and a thorough knowledge of the Collision Regulations. It should be noted that the course is a revision of topics that should have already been mastered and if candidates are unsure of any techniques they are recommended to research and practice these skills before arriving to the course.

The instructor will assess your strengths and weaknesses and coach you in the areas required to pass the examination.  We concentrate on the following areas: passage planning, man overboard recovery, close quarters handling, skippering techniques, navigation in restricted visibility, pilotage and knowledge of the International Collision Regulations. There is a daily debrief  and you are given time to ask about and practise on any weaker areas dependant on time and weather.

L'esaminatore chiederà a ciascun candidato di condurre l'imbarcazione a motore in diversi brevi passaggi e di effettuare varie dimostrazioni della propria abilità di skipper e di velista.

Il corso di preparazione Just Sailing RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Motor è tenuto da un istruttore RYA Yachtmaster e dura 4 giorni. Al termine di questi, si è in grado di completare l'esame stesso, che dura altri due giorni.

The exam is arranged following the course and will require the engagement of an RYA Yachtmaster examiner who will join the boat for those two days. Each candidate will pay 250€ for the travelling expenses of the examiner.  The cost of the exam is £256 paid direct online to the RYA. The exam process and examiner are appointed by the RYA and as such is not part of Just Sailing.

Per la preparazione e l'esame verranno forniti libri di navigazione, carte di addestramento e attrezzature, per le quali verrà richiesto un deposito di 50€ (rimborsabile dopo l'esame) da parte di ogni candidato.
